6 Ways To Achieve Growth and Satisfaction In Your Job

How many of you are working at jobs you love?
How many of you believe this is your career part?
How many of you have a growth trajectory plan?
Do you have job satisfaction?

If you answered yes to any of the questions above then this article is for you. Steve Jobs once said “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.”

This year we want to help you achieve growth at your place of work. Here are a few steps you need to take:

  1. Set realistic goals and expectations – This year what do you hope to accomplish, it can be as little as wanting to publish more on Linkedin or as big as getting promoted. Whatever that goal is, make sure it’s realistic and achievable in the time frame available to you
  1. Recognise good work and build on it – Reward yourself, share your achievements and build on them. Don’t rest on your laureates, map out the next steps and if need be focus on long term goals.
  1. Focus on long term projects – Long term projects usually come to company goals for the year, so why not cement your place and make yourself indispensable by being the future driven.
  1. Be a team player collaborate more – “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” – Helen Keller Collaboration is key to growth when everyone comes together, think of new ideas, bounce them off each other, the end result is usually much better than if you had worked alone. Faster, better and more efficient.
  1. Request for opportunities to learn – Develop and sharpen your skills by taking courses. Research on conferences and webinars, that will help you grow and achieve your goals then request support from your company or team leads. Maximize learning platforms like Lunch and Learns or Internal training programs. Keep a mindset of curiosity and learning high!
  1. Feedback is important for growth – Feel free to take advantage of feedback tools like Officevibe, 15Five, TinyPulse, Reward Gateway and lots more. These tools can help to improve your performance and create a conducive environment for learning.

These steps are not magic bullets; however, they are good places to start for career growth and satisfaction. We spend a lot of time at work, and it only makes sense that we achieve some satisfaction and see some progression with the work we do.
